WATCH: TRAILER FOR NEIL YOUNG'S "TRUNK SHOW"
Here's a trailer of Neil Young's Trunk Show live film directed by Jonathan Demme, that is hitting theaters this month. Go to the film's website to find out when it will be in your town. I am curious when it will be coming out on DVD and if there will be a live album. The last Neil/Demme film, Heart Of Gold, wasn't available in an audio only format.

NEIL YOUNG'S TRUNK SHOW
Neil Young's upcoming concert doc The Neil Young Trunk Show, directed by Jonathan Demme, now has a website, a poster and a trailer. I just hope that it has a soundtrack album, because the show was awesome. (But who knows, he has another live recording coming out soon). At this point in the tour, he was playing small, funky, out of the way places, and doing a solo acoustic set, followed by a set with an awesome backing band, and playing a bunch of songs from his then-latest album, Chrome Dreams II, which I liked. Last year, he played MSG with pretty much the same band, but played a lot of his then-upcoming album Fork In The Road, and it wasn't as good. In other Neil doc news, I wonder if or when he will do a doc about his work with the Linc Volt car.Saturday, March 7, 2009
NEIL YOUNG'S TRUNK SHOW TO PREMIERE AT SXSW
There's a ton of Neil Young projects in the works, including his new album, the long-delayed box set, and his Linc-Volt documentary, plus some archival releases. I almost forgot about this one, a concert film from Neil's 2007 tour shot by Jonathan Demme. It's called The Neil Young Trunk Show, and Demme is premiering it at South By Southwest. I'm sure there will be a DVD release, but hopefully he will release an audio version as well. I saw him a few nights after this film was shot and I was blown away.Oh yeah, Neil also posted something on his website in support of Warner Brothers' battle with YouTube.

DEMME HELMING MARLEY AND YOUNG FILMS

A blog owned by Variety magazine called The Set List is reporting that Martin Scorsese is no longer working on the Bob Marley doc, and that Jonathan Demme is taking over. The reason given was "scheduling reasons." It's well known that he is also working on a George Harrison doc.
The article also mentions that Demme is working on his second Neil Young doc. He did the great Heart Of Gold concert film a few years back, and he shot some of Neil's shows on his Chrome Dreams II tour last year. Nice work if you can get it!
