DEAR JANN: NO. NO. DON'T

Today I read something by former fox news guy Roger Friedman on his Showbiz 411 site where he said that Jann Wenner is considering changing the rules of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame so that bands could be inducted twenty years after their debut (it is currently twenty-five years). Apparently, he isn't into the artists that will be eligable next year, and would like to hurry up and get the likes of Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Green Day in.

I hope that isn't true. Pearl Jam, Nirvana and probably Green Day will get in. There are plenty of seminal artists that deserve to be in now, and if you need some help, Jann, I'm available for the nominating committee. Who deserves to get in who is eligable now? KISS.  (Sorry, Jann, I knew it wouldn't go over well, but even you can't deny their influence.) Alice Cooper. The New York Dolls. The MC5. MotorheadLL Cool J. The Beastie Boys. The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Tom Waits. Warren Zevon. Emmylou Harris. Gram Parsons. Bill Withers. The Replacements. The Smiths. The Cure. Joy Division. Bad Brains. X. Peter Gabriel. The Specials. Peter Tosh. Willie Nelson. Kris Kristofferson. Loretta Lynn. Come on, dude. What's the rush to induct Nirvana?
