R.I.P. DICKIE PETERSON OF BLUE CHEER
Blue Cheer bassist/vocalist Dickie Peterson died at age 61 of liver cancer this week. Blue Cheer were a "seminal" '60s band who influenced metal, stoner rock, grunge and psychadelic music. All you need to hear is this album, 1968's Vincebus Eruptum, which features their cover of Eddie Cochran's classic "Summertime Blues." Some people cite is as the moment heavy metal was born.
