NARAS (a group that I am a member of, although I don't always approve of thier decisions and methods) has announced that
Neil Young will be the
MusiCares Person of the Year for 2010. Neil will be celebrated at a very high end tribute concert that few regular fans will be able to attend, and it isn't usually recorded for the public. That said, it charges a lot of money to high rollers and raises money for MusiCares, an organization that ensures that "music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need." This includes people with drug problems. Neil is being recognized for his own charitable efforts, mainly his involvement with The Bridge School and Farm Aid. In other Neil news, Warner Brothers has quietly reissued remastered versions of his first four albums,
Neil Young,
Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere,
After The Gold Rush and
Harvest. Most of the songs from those albums are found in remastered form on
Archives Vol. 1.
